Master craftsmanship
An essential process in kimono remake is "untangling."
At first glance, it may seem simple, but in reality it is a very delicate and painstaking process. Because the kimono is made of pure silk and the sewing thread is raw silk, it cannot be pulled too hard and each stitch must be carefully removed. The process is the same whether the kimono is old or new, and requires time and careful attention.
Also, in our workshop,
1. Furisode
2. Tomesode
3. Other (Oshima Tsumugi, Komon, Meisen, etc.)
The method of unraveling varies depending on the type of kimono. For this reason, we provide instructions tailored to each kimono and have a system in place to ensure that work is done in the correct way.
The staff in charge of solving the puzzles are senior staff members in their 80s. They are very careful with their work, thanks to their many years of experience, and are important people who can be trusted to do the work.
Each piece is carefully sewn by veteran seamstresses who have honed their skills at the forefront of sewing factories for many years.
With experience in producing samples for many famous formal brands, they have the high ability to accurately recreate the design intent and the solid skills to handle high-quality, delicate materials. Producing samples for formal wear is an extremely demanding job, requiring a perfect fit, uncompromising finishing down to the smallest detail, and repeated fine adjustments.
It is because of the craftsmen who have accumulated such experience that we are able to achieve a level of perfection that sets us apart from ordinary apparel products.
The quality and reputation of a product is ultimately determined by the skills of the pattern maker and seamstress - we have absolute confidence in the technology we have cultivated in this world.
It is thanks to these painstaking and careful processes that each and every kimono varsity jacket is reborn as if it were breathing a precious life into itself.
